Nits was formed in Amsterdam in 1974. Henk Hofstede has been the singer, guitarist, pianist and songwriter for the group ever since.

Their biggest hit came in 1986 when they released the single "In the Dutch Mountains". They remain active and have released some of their best material in recent years.

Villi Asgeirsson used footage he had shot at a Nits gig in 2004 to try out different editing techniques. He later shot performances at the International Nits Convension in 2005. The resulting films are available on the DVD NitsBits.
